Travel and
Lifestyle
When you travel,
what is your lifestyle? Do you like to be
pampered in luxury, or rough it, or even endanger
yourself, or be comfortable, safe and in
familiar situations? Travelling has
different lifestyles for different people. Your
clothes, gear, luggage, footwear, and activities are
dependent on several factors in addition to the
destination you are heading for. Perhaps the two
other most important factors are that your personal
preferred lifestyle contributes to the kind of travel you
want, and budget figures into your travel lifestyle
as well.
Below: This is probably the image most
of us think of when we want to 'get away'; relaxing on a beach,
somewhere tropical. This is by far the most popular form of
travel lifestyle for those on a honeymoon. You might even have
the actual marriage take place there too! When we take
vacations from our jobs and busy lifestyle, we usually want to
visit a place that has sun, openness, view, water, and
comfortable, even romantic, rooms.

When deciding on a holiday, you'll have to
start with deciding what you would like to DO on a
holiday. It is essential to answer this question before you
pick out the destination for your vacation. If you want to
relax and unwind, your destination will probably be quite
different than if you want adventure and action, or if you have
kids.
Families with children should make sure that
they go to a place with many activities to keep the
kids busy and happy. On the other hand if there are only
adults you may want to do something different on your
holiday, like taking a relaxing vacation or a working
break, or even a strenuous, slightly dangerous no-kids-allowed
adventure vacation.
Travel and lifestyle are locked together,
even though this is something most people don't think of
consciously. If you are rich, your options are quite different
than if you are not wealthy. The good news is: the rich and the
not-so-rich alike can all have great vacations. When you travel
on a simpler budget, you find more do-it-yourself kind of
vacations. The kind where you really get close with the area
you are visiting, get your hands and shoes dirty, get worn out,
get helped, meet the people in more than a touristy
way.
Dressing well, looking successful, hitting
the beach for that tan, how you look and what
pleasant little stories you can tell back home upon returning,
this kind of travel is still what most people go for, and
most people are a little afraid of going 'outside the box' when
in foreign areas on vacation. But when you start to rough it,
do some hiking, eco tours, adventure travel, camp out with the
natives, get muddy and get blisters... whatever you think of
that kind of travel lifestyle before you do it... AFTER you do
it, you feel a little magic, a little accomplishment. That's
the kind of travel lifestyle I love.
Of
course, I wouldn't turn down a rich vacation either, if it was
thrown at me. As long as I can still get my feet dirty and meet
the locals as more than a tourist, I'm in. But I guess we all
have to find our own combination of travelling lifestyles and
interests.
